A number of senior leaders in Isis have been killed in an air strike after the Iraq's Air Force claimed to have hit a military convoy carrying the jihadi leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in Iraq.
A Twitter site which publishes statements from Islamic State said "rumors" that an air strike had targeted Baghdadi were false.

Amazing that within two weeks of the Russian intervention, the dynamic is changing. Don't think all those ISIS commanders were gathering to discuss tax policies in the caliphate. They has a strategic decision to make. Either allow the Russian/Syrian/Kurdish/Iranian coalition seal the Turkish border, cut off the supplies, money and recruits , become surrounded and be destroyed. Or they can attack Baghdad, take it, force millions of destitute Arabic speaking Shi'ite refugees into Iran, establish with generous Saudi and Gulf state aid a hostile Sunni jihadist state on the Iranian border, effectively take Iran out of the fight, then confront and wear down the Russians in Syria. Interesting times ahead. Give Obama credit. No Americans are doing the dying.

Baghdadi is not going down easy. He was wounded a while back too. He needs to be sent to his 72 virgins though. Thing is there will be another leader ready to continue the murders of non Muslims and violators of Sharia Law. Iraq has not been fighting ISIS very well with desertions and old rivalries still simmering and boiling over within the military. If the Iraqi military did indeed send Baghdadi to his 72 virgins, that will be a moral boost.

A bit of war propaganda. If they were sure that was Baghdadi's convoy and all these top level ISIS commanders were about to meet at a particular place, the logical thing to do, would have been to wait it out and bomb the site killing all the attendees at the meeting.
