North Korea on Saturday rejected the idea of resuming talks to end its nuclear program, saying previous such attempts ended in failure, and reiterated its demand that Washington come to the table to negotiate a peace treaty.
North Korea walked away from the so-called six-party talks involving the United States and four other countries in 2008 and went on to conduct two more nuclear tests.
“If the United States insists on taking a different path, the Korean peninsula will only see our unlimited nuclear deterrent being strengthened further,” the North’s foreign ministry said in a statement.

That's the way to get the US to listen to you, threaten the production of more nuclear weapons.

Ah yes! The ability to increase that which is unlimited. It must be yet another superpower of the legendary Kim rulers.

Everybody has bent over backwards in which to accommodate NK. Each and every time they reneged on their word, gone back to acting the petulant child and then when they require a little more Aid (Money/Fuel/Food) they demand everybody treats them as a only a victim should.

If Saddam had really had nuclear weapons, they would never have invaded Iraq.

"North Korea rejects more nuclear talks but demands peace treaty with US"
Americans may seriously consider the proposal unless they want dislodge North Korea.

naturally, any olive branch from Pyongyang is going to be full of posturing and invective. but actually referring to a peace treaty in lieu of sanction relief is both cynical and promising. we all know how stubborn, martial, and xenophobic the north is. actually referring to a treaty means the "military first" philosophy the north has used to excuse the gross inequality of its people is reaching its (predictable) end of usefulness. but is lil' Kim strong enough to handle the societal changes?

The North ain't gonna relinquish their nuclear weapons. That's the only thing keeping the U.S. from launching an all-out attack. That and China's waning interest in having a state that's hostile to the U.S. in the region.

You would have to be delusional if you are a country under pressure from a power such as the US to give away nuclear weapons, they are after all the best deterrent there is against an attack. History has proved time and time again that small countries without nuclear weapons get attacked time and time again by various imperial powers.

Is this going to be another example of American nation building. They have been so successful in delivering peace stability and democracy in Iraq Afghanistan and Syria that I can't understand why the north isnt clamouring for america to have boots on the ground.

I want to see Fatboy Fatt out in the middle for 90 minutes on the trot.
His sweating coils of fat would be the funniest thing, up until the heart attack that would inevitably carry him off. That would be sheer popcorn entertainment.

Why don't we send a Luca Brasi to see this clown?
